Our Lava Stone Pestle is a perfect replacement item for our Lava Stone Bowls.

We recommend curing the stone in your molcajete before use. The most popular method is to crush white rice in your molcajete with your new pestle until the stone surface smooths out and the rice collects the microparticles. Then wash your pestle with water and a stiff brush. 

Instructions are included with your purchase. 

Each is individual and made from natural volcanic basalt stone. It is porous and contains color and texture variations. Color is generally grey (as pictured) and can contain shades or veining of brown.
